Pour the contents of the pouch into your dish / bowl.
Add about 350ml of milk – dairy, oat, nut or coconut – you decide! If you have some yoghurt / kefir in your fridge, a few tablespoons will add some extra creaminess and nutrients.
Mix thoroughly with a spoon. At this stage you could add sugar, honey or maple syrup to taste.
Pop into the fridge overnight and let it turn into the nourishing pudding your body craves.
Spoon a few tablespoons (3 or 4 – it’s very filling) into your bowl, add some honey or maple , top with your favourite Greek yoghurt and berries or whatever fruit is lurking in that bowl on the counter! You can pimp it up anyway you like with nuts, peanut butter, cacao nibs? goji berries? – go crazy!
If you prefer a crunch to a chew...
This mix can be easily turned into super healthy granola too! Preheat your oven to 140 C Fan. Line an oven tray with parchment paper. Pour the contents into a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Mix thoroughly and then spread onto the paper lined tray. Flatten it out as much as possible with the back of a spoon and pop it in the oven. It will take about 45 mins to crisp up at the temperature but you want to be stirring it every 15 minutes or so to prevent burning. You could have a hotter oven and do it a bit quicker but there’s a risk that the seeds and nuts will burn so if you go 150 or 160 C then stay on hand and check every 5 minutes or so.
Once its cooked to your liking let it cool completely – it will get crispier as it cools. Then you can pop it all back into the pouch to store, and add it to your yoghurt, or seed puddings or just eat it by the handful!
Note
This is real raw food, with no sugar added. The hemp seeds are nutrient powerhouses and impart a particular ‘grassy’ flavour which may take your taste buds a while to get used to so feel free to add sugar / honey / maple to taste while you adjust. Healthy food still needs to taste great so make it your own and enjoy it!
Also if you don’t eat a lot of fibre then introduce new high fibre foods slowly – your gut will thank you and soon you’ll be developing lots of wonderful health giving new colonies of bacteria in your microbiome!
Natural food can vary and preferences definitely vary! – so if the texture with 350ml of milk is too wet or too dry for your taste then add more milk – a little coconut milk from a can adds some serious luxury vibes! Mixing in some greek yoghurt with the milk will also add creaminess to the finished pud!
TIP: You could blitz a banana or a handful of dates into the milk for some natural sweetness and even more nutrients and flavour!
